Open to researchers and Ph.D. candidates for research programs on East Asian cultures and societies, the Italian School of East Asian Studies (ISEAS) serves as a bridge between Italian and Japanese academic institutions.
Events
The School regularly organizes external independent or joint academic and cultural events. Among these are the Kyoto Lectures, aimed at an international audience of scholars, and Manabu – study days for Italian researchers, fellows, and doctoral candidates. Conferences and workshops on specific topics also constitute another important part of the activities.

The School’s publication series gather the results of scientific activities in various formats. Collections of essays, monographs, and conference papers are normally published in English. Volumes can be purchased online through the Isseido bookstore in Tokyo.
Library
The libraries of the Italian School of East Asian Studies and the École Française d’Extrême-Orient integrate their collections into a unified system open to all registered users. They serve as a valuable complement to the libraries of Kyoto University, all located nearby.
